Background:

Completed in 2005, this Chincoteague facility improvement project received $145,000 in grant funds from the VSRFDF.  The joint project between the Town of Chincoteague, the Virginia Port Authority and VSRFDF included such improvements as the breakwater, bulkheading, finger piers, handicapped floating pier, fish cleaning station, collector piers and a paved parking lot area.  This location gives boating access to Chincoteague Bay as well as other seaside Eastern Shore inlets and bays and the Atlantic Ocean.  Blackfish Bank Artificial Reef is about 6 miles east from Chincoteague.  The facility should be open 24/7 and licensed recreational fishermen should receive a 20% discount on the yearly/weekly boat ramp permit fee. Please contact the Town of Chincoteague for the current cost.

Directions:

The Harbor is on the southwest end of Chincoteague Island in Accomack County.

From US Route 13 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, take Route 175 going east to Chincoteague.  Once you cross over the bridge to the island, turn right onto Main Street (also Route 175) heading south.  Toward the end of the road, you will see the entrance to the facility on the right side.
