Public Notice: 2005 POUND NET NOTICES

REGULATION 4 VAC 20-25-10 ET SEQ., PERTAINING TO POUND NET SITING PUBLIC INTEREST REVIEW" requires that there be an opportunity for public comment on new pound net locations that are requested for licensing by commercial fishermen.  The following notices are posted by date; the comment period for each specific notice ends approximately 30 days from the date posted on this web site.   Please check with The Fisheries Division at (757) 247-2248 to determine when a specific comment period ends.  Send comments/inquiries within 30 days to: Marine Resources Commission, Fisheries Management Division, 2600 Washington Avenue, 3rd Floor, Newport News, Virginia 23607.

Note: notices below this point are beyond the 30 day comment period and are provided only as a reference of new pound net licensing activity. Comments will not be accepted on the notices below.

June 13, 2005: Notice is hereby given that Roy A. Fenwick, Jr. of King George, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in Upper Machodoc Creek near the mouth of Williams Creek in King George County at Latitude N38 degrees 19.232 minutes, and Longitude W 77 degrees, 3.340 minutes.

February 28, 2005:
Notice is hereby given that Keith Like of Cape Charles, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate two pound nets in the Chesapeake Bay. The first net is to be located south of the mouth of Beasleys Bay near Cedar Cove in Accomack County at 37 degrees 50 minutes 49.8 seconds N Latitude and 75 degrees 42 minutes 40.8 seconds W Longitude. The second net is to be located approximately 1000 feet north of the concrete ships off Kiptopeke State Park in Northampton County at 37 degrees 10 minutes 21.11 seconds N Latitude and 75 degrees 59 minutes 42.01 W Longitude.

January 11, 2005:   Notice is hereby given that Matthew S. Smith of Reedville, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in the Chesapeake Bay, approximately 5750 feet South Southeast of the Little Wicomico River jetty in Northumberland County,at Latitude N37 degrees 52.711 minutes, Longitude W 76 degrees 13.358 minutes.

January 11, 2005: 
Notice is hereby given that Charles H. Williams, IV of Reedville, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in the Chesapeake Bay, approximately 1600 feet East South East of the mouth of Taskmaker's Pond in Northumberland County,at Latitude N37 degrees 49.108 minutes, Longitude W 76 degrees 15.502 minutes.

January 3, 2005: 
Notice is hereby given that William H. Haynie of Reedville, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Great Wicomico River, 1.75 miles East of Dameron's Marsh and 0.75 miles South of Great Wicomico Lighthouse in 12 feet of water at Latitude N37 degrees 47.494 minutes, Longitude W 76 degrees 15.974 minutes.
