NOTICE
The Virginia Marine Resources Commission invites public comment on a proposed amendment to Regulation 4 VAC 20-670-30, "Gear Restriction." The amendment eliminates the requirement that persons licensed to use a recreational gill net shall stay within 100 yards of such net when it is overboard.
In accordance with §28.2-209 of the Code of Virginia, a public hearing on the adoption of the proposed amendment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, 2600 Washington Avenue, Newport News. A copy of the proposed regulation may be reviewed at the Commission, Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a copy may be obtained by calling (757) 247-2248.
The proposed amendment to 4 VAC 20-670-30 eliminates the provision below:
"Any person licensed to use a recreational gill net shall stay within 100 yards of such net when it is overboard. Failure to attend such net in this fashion is a violation of this chapter."
