On August 8, 2001 the VMRC Artificial Reef Program deployed the trawler, F/V Prince of Peace at the Parramore artificial reef site. The F/V Prince of Peace is 85 feet in length and has a beam of 24 feet. Prior to deployment, the vessel was stripped of all its fishing equipment and the engines and fuel tanks were removed. After being cleaned, the vessel was inspected by USCG, EPA and VMRC personnel prior to clearance for deployment.
The vessel was towed to reef site and water was pumped in to the hull to sink the vessel. She now sits at a depth of 70 feet and has a profile of 20 feet.
The Parramore reef site is located about 8.4 nautical miles east of Wachapreague Inlet.
