Gloucester Point Landing

Background:

Completed in 2006, this cooperative project totaled approximately $846,400. A grant of $150,000 was provided from the VSRFDF to assist in the improvement of the landing facilities. Located under the Coleman Bridge on the Gloucester Point side, the boat ramps, access piers, and parking lot are just some of the improvements that visitors may utilize. "The Point Walk" with walking paths, historical information kiosks, a gazebo, and handicapped accessible restroom facilities are available for those not venturing out on the York River. The mouth of the York River provides opportunities for nice catches of croaker, spot, flounder, striped bass, and gray trout.

Directions:

The landing is located off of US Route 17 at Gloucester Point Beach. The pier is situated next to the Coleman Bridge and the campus of William & Mary College, Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS).

From the southside / Yorktown: There will be a $2.00 toll after you cross the Coleman Bridge. From US Route 17 north, turn right (traffic light closest to the bridge) onto Route 1206 (Lafayette Heights); turn right onto Route 1208 (Greate Rd), go through the VIMS campus and to Gloucester Point Beach. The ramps and parking lots are at the end of the road.
From Gloucester: From US Route 17 south, turn left (last traffic light before bridge) onto Route 1206 (Lafayette Heights); turn right onto Route 1208 (Greate Rd), go through the VIMS campus and to Gloucester Point Beach. The ramps and parking lots are at the end of the road.
