Background:

This ADA compliant boat ramp facility is maintained by Northampton County in agreement with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.  Completed in December 2004, Northampton County received a grant from the VSRFDF for $90,000 to improve the public parking area.  The funds were used to improve the existing parking area, as well as add an overflow parking area for the "busy" fishing season.  The facility provides free public boating access to the southern Eastern Shore seaside bays and the Atlantic Ocean.

Directions:

Oyster is located on the seaside of the Eastern Shore in Northampton County, northwest of Mockhorn Island and South Bay.

From N/S US Route 13 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, take Business Route 13 toward Cheriton (South Bayside Rd.).  Turn east on Route 639 (Sunnyside Rd. - between two churches) and go about 2.4 miles.  Turn left on Route 1802 (Crumb Hill Rd.) and go about a 1/2 mile to the end of the road.
